My Dorm Room

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I sat down to actually write a blog post. I worked really hard to schedule several weeks worth of content before school started because I knew I would be so busy after I moved in. In my first, of many, college-related blog posts, I'm going to talk about my dorm!

I'm living in a suite style dorm room (which means I only share my bathroom with my roommate and two suite mates)! We also have a little kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator, sink, microwave, and table & chairs. The sink for the bathroom is outside of the actual bathroom with a pretty big counter. This is awesome because someone can get ready while another girl is showering or going to the bathroom.

I share my room with one other girl. We each have a desk, bed, and closet. There's also chest of drawers which we share. I was actually surprised at the amount of space I have. I'm not allowed to use bed risers, but we do have the option of bunking our beds. There's still enough space under my bed for all my extra sheets and shoes that I'm not wearing constantly.

I have a few tips for move-in day, relating to my experience! I'm actually a part of a living learning community, (for sustainability), which means we do activities as a floor and get to know each other really well. This also meant I was able to move in a day earlier than most students. If your school offers anything like this, it's definitely beneficial! I would also recommend packing in boxes. They're so much easier to get to your room than having to take lots of trips with oddly shaped/sized things. Also, read the checklist that your university provides when packing! Make sure you have everything you need and don't bring things that you aren't allowed to have.

If you have any questions about my dorm or move in experience, please comment below and ask me! Or, if there's another college blog post you want to see, let me know!

Elephants

I stopped by my favorite place in the world, also known as the Saint Louis Zoo, the other day with my big camera. It just so happened that some of the elephants were enjoying a swim to beat the heat and I captured some adorable photos. Raja, the male, is pictured in the first two photos but I'm not one hundred percent sure which females are in the other photos! I'm pretty sure the smallest and youngest is Priya. You can read more about the Saint Louis Zoo's elephants hereI absolutely love going to the zoo, if you haven't noticed from other blog posts. You can also see all my zoo animal-related blog posts here

Navy and coral are a winning combination. I'd had this skirt sitting in my closet for a couple months and I was never sure what to wear with it. I ordered it online from ASOS while they were having a sale, but unfortunately they don't have this color anymore. Then, I randomly picked up this quarter sleeve t-shirt at Ross to layer in the fall. When I was trying on clothing, I paired these two pieces and knew they were made for each other. My bracelet also happened to match and be the perfect shade of navy. I picked up the charm at Disney World over Spring Break. They were in a store on main street, but I don't remember which one. I know they were selling them as "pieces of magic." I bought a bunch with different sayings and planned for my Mom to make them into bracelets. You can check out her etsy store to see some more jewelry she has created.

I usually stick to neutral outfits and wear only one bright color, so this outfit was fun to wear. What are your favorite color combinations? Let me know by leaving a comment below!

Back to School

I love stationary and paper products so for me, back to school shopping is like a second Christmas. I'm actually genuinely excited to go back to school this year. I'm starting college so I know it's going to be so different compared to last year. Anyways, now is the time to start organizing your agendas, or as Leslie Knope would say, start jammin' on your planners. I've rounded up six totally adorable agendas for you to choose from. For my freshman year of college, I've opted for the Lilly Pulitzer Large Agenda in Tusk in Sun and so far I love using it. The pages are so bright and colorful, but if you want something more simple there are other options out there. Which planner are you using this year?

Spirit Football Jersey

I don't think I ever officially announced it on here, but I am headed to Missouri State University this fall. Actually, when this is posted I will be enjoying welcome weekend after moving in. I'm so excited to officially be a bear! Now, would I really be going to college without a spirit jersey? I can't wait to wear this on Bear Wear Fridays with leggings when it gets cooler outside. Spirit Football Jersey has jerseys for all major colleges, greek life, cities and some that are just for fun. Mine is super comfortable and it arrived so quickly after I ordered it online!

Trust me, this is just the first in a series of college related blog posts. I'll be sharing a lot about my experience as a freshman in college on here! If you're in high school and looking at colleges/preparing for college feel free to ask me questions about my experience transitioning to university life!

Bamboom

I have a new favorite Lilly print, and it's called Bamboom. I love the blue and green hues in the new prints this season. This print is still bright and fun, like all Lilly prints should be, but it's a little more neutral. Maybe I just feel that way because ninety percent of my wardrobe is these colors! I also love the variety in styles that are available right now. There's so many options other than shift dresses which is very refreshing (not that I don't love the classic shifts too!). There's also some shirts, palazzo pants and even a cute scarf that come in the Bamboom print. Shop the print below:

What's your current Lilly print obsession?

I {whale} St Louis

So, I bought my first Vineyard Vines t-shirt. I must say, they are absolutely worth the hype. I've worn it so many times this summer because it's so comfortable and goes with everything. I chose the I "whale" St. Louis t-shirt when I saw it in the store, because I was sure I'd only be able to buy it in St. Louis and I'm going off to college soon! Of course, these photos had to be taken at the most iconic location in St. Louis: the old courthouse with the arch in the background. That's even the geotag on snapchat when you're downtown! I'm absolutely loving the 'oversized tee and running shorts' trend. I'm definitely going to be wearing variations of this outfit to class all the time in the fall.

Graffiti Wall

Summer is all about exploring and finding new things to do. On this particular day, I made my friend come and see the legal graffiti wall downtown with me. I'd known for a while that it existed, but I'd never actually seen it in person. It's kind of amazing what some people can do with spray paint. I can't draw at all so I was so impressed! I intentionally wore a very neutral outfit that day so the art would stand out in photos. Plus, you can never go wrong with plain white tee!

College Haul

I have enjoyed watching youtubers and reading bloggers posts about their dorm room hauls so much. I decided to share some of the main things I've purchased for my dorm so far. I've bought a lot of the big things but I obviously still have some shopping to do. I did most of my shopping at Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond, but I also explored stores like Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Gordman's in search of things I might need. Unfortunately, they don't really have online shopping so I can't link you to anything I bought there. However, I did find a coffee mug, towels, pillow cases, and food storage containers at these stores.

In case you are wondering, I will be living in a four person suite. I'll share my room with another girl and we will share our bathroom with two other girls. As you can see, I've gone with a navy and turquoise theme (I know, shocker!) with a few hints of coral and other neutrals. I'm so excited to move in soon and set all of this up! I'll definitely share photos of my finished living space after I get settled in. If there's any other college related things you want to see on the blog, please let me know! You can tweet me or leave a comment below!
